Look At Me Now Project:
Banned Book:
The only thing that I really found challenging about this project was probably completing the amount of reading that I had to do for each journal. This was a little difficult because I chose a larger book so I had to read quite a lot between each journal which was a little stressful. The other thing that I found difficult was keeping up with all of the journals and their prompts because the due dates were so close together.
I think that one of the easiest parts of this project was writing the journals themselves because I found it quite easy to express my opinion and thoughts. There was a lot to write about, given that most of the book ponders deep questions so I found it easy to express about what happened the book since it's something that I'm personally interested in writing about.
I was just a little uncomfortable when making the film because I had written a little more on my script so I felt a little rushed to read it all and I didn't have the overall points of the script memorized. This made it difficult to continue talking without looking at the paper the whole time. One way I could have solved this would be to write my script and then maybe off to the side of my paper I could include some bullet points as well to help me with my presentation skill of expressing more and not just standing there while looking at the paper.
I did in fact have critique from many of my classmates throughout this project. Most of the critique however, was on my book journals because we had two partners for critique every time we completed a journal. I think that overall, my partners were very extensive and detailed with their critique and it was very helpful. I was very happy with the critique that I got and it helped a lot because it was very kind, specific, and helpful.
In the critique sessions I did give feedback although I don't think that I did one of the days because I wasn't there that day. I think that my critique was pretty helpful, I followed the instructions for how many questions and comments and I think that I was pretty detailed when giving my critique and think that I did a pretty good job.
I personally think that the critique sessions were pretty helpful, however I don't know anyone who actually went back and made changed based off the critique if it wasn't entirely mandatory. The critique itself was good to get us used to however, and it was good for us to regularly practice giving the critique. I do think that it would be good to also make sure people are using the critique as well instead of doing it and then calling it done without revising. Then the critique just becomes kind of redundant if they're not going to actually look at it and use it.
I did read most of the book that I chose but like I said earlier, the book was much longer than some other student's books so I didn't get around to reading quite a bit of the end of the book. I found this book very interesting which was good because I got quite a lot of reading done because it was difficult to put the book down. I didn't find the time however, to finish it completely because it was a bit longer than I expected it to be so it took up a lot more of my time.
I personally think that I deserve a B+ because although I didn't finish a couple of the ending bits of the book, I did try my best to keep up with the assignments and reading. Again, I did have quite a long book and so it overall took me much longer to read certain sections and to read the right amount to do the journals. I think that I did a good job with critique and completing my assignments. I also thought that the writing in my journals was pretty good as well.
If I could change one thing, I would probably have picked a shorter book so that I could better organize what I was reading and not feel so rushed. I would've also looked at Edmodo more to check up on due dates and themes for the journals. These both would've really helped if I had thought of them before, but overall, although it was just a little stressful, I really liked this project and how we got to pick our own book.
